WAITLIST UPDATE : Current status is that several winter programs are full and there is a waitlist until we recruit more coaches.  All Waitlist requests will be notified as spots become available.  Waitlists can hold off on memberships until they have a confirmed spot. 


FEBRUARY 24 - 27

As you will likely already know, Vernon is hosting the upcoming 2022 BC Winter Games with SilverStar Mountain Resort being the host mountain venue for the Freestyle Skiing events!

This provides an incredible opportunity for eligible athletes from our club to showcase their talents on the competitive stage against freestyle skiers from across BC, right here on home turf.....(or snow)!

As a well established and competitive Freestyle club (and the home club for this event!) we encourage any and all eligible athletes to try and take part in this great experience. Your head coach shall work closely with you to discuss and establish training plans to help you prepare for these competitions and perform at your best.

BC Winter Games Vaccination Policy Summary

  • That all accredited personnel at the 2022 BC Winter Games are required to be fully vaccinated with a Health Canada approved COVID-19 vaccination. This includes all accredited Volunteers, Participants, and Guests.

  • That all spectators attending 2022 BC Winter Games sport competitions are required to be fully vaccinated with a Health Canada approved COVID-19 vaccination.

Silver Star Athletes who live in the Greater Vernon area are considered as Zone 2 team.

Freestyle Ski - Okanagan Zone 2

Freestyle Ski Schedule:

  • Thursday: Unofficial Training

  • Friday: Official Training, Moguls (2 runs, best run counts)

  • Saturday: Slopestyle (2 runs, best run counts)

  • Sunday: Big Air (3 runs, best 2 jumps count)

* Athletes are expected to compete in all three disciplines.


●  U14: athletes must be 11-13 years of age as of January 1, 2022

●  U16: athletes must be 14-16 years of age as of January 1, 2022

●  U18: athletes must be 17-18 years of age as of January 1, 2022

Please note: (as per the BC Games vaccination policy (link above)) “If that vaccine [for those between the ages of 5 and 11]does not become available before the Games, competitors under the age of 12 will not be able to participate”


Eligible coaches are nominated within each region. A head coach and assistant coach will be selected in each zone based on the athletes selected and nominated coaches. Additional coaches will be allocated based on numbers.

Athlete Selection:

Each zone is allowed (4) four spots – two (2) males and two (2) females. Within each zone: the best skiers based upon the most current ranking will be selected for the team. The Timber Tour results will be weighted at 65%; regional events will be weighted at 50%. Freestyle BC will use a RPA system to allocate these spots.

There are additional wildcard spots to be allocated. The Freestyle BC High Performance Committee will decide how these are allocated.

Athletes who have reached a Canada Cup final (or top 20) are not eligible to participate in the 2022 BC Winter Games.

For Silver Star Freestyle Club athletes the qualifier events will be:

  • Regional event at Big White, Jan 7 - 9 2022 (Slope and Big Air) - Zone 2 qualifier
  • Timber Tour at Panorama, Jan 13 - 16 2022 (Moguls, Big Air and Slope) - Provincial qualifier

Athletes may attend both. More information about selection and scoring detail is coming soon.  Athletes that want to qualify for the 2022 Winter Games should attend both one or both of these events. 

Games Registration Fee and Deadline:

All zone team competitors, who qualify to compete at the 2022 BC Winter Games (excluding coaches and chaperones), are required to pay the individual registration fee of $250. This fee will go towards offsetting the costs related to transportation accommodations, meals, zone identification vests, medals, athlete entertainment and sport competitions. 

All athletes, coaches and chaperones who will attend the 2022 BC Winter Games will be required to complete waivers and register online by January 23, 2022
